Nematode (Meloidogyne spp.)

Crops Affected:
 
Solanaceous (tomato, pepper, eggplant)
   
Cucurbits 
   
Management and Control:
 
Use resistant varieties/rootstock, if available.
   
Crop rotation with rice, corn and a long fallow period can effectively reduce nematode population in the soil.
   
Disinfect beds by heat sterilization.
   
Enhance soil structure by applying soil amendments (Ca, phosphate, K)/organic fertilizers. 
   
Use nematicide whenever necessary.
   
Biofumigation
   
Apply nematicide such as carbosulfan (e.g. MarshallⓇ).
