 Small, angular and yellowish to pale green lesions that are demarcated by leaf veins are the typical symptoms of downy mildew.  |

Advanced lesions appear as brown necrotic lesions with mass of black spores on the underside of the leaves. |

Cool nights with long dew periods favors disease development. |

 Spores on infected melon leaves can be dispersed by wind.

| Management and Control: | |

 Use of resistant varieties, if available.

Maintain good field sanitation (e.g. remove and burn infected plants/plant parts as soon as initial symptoms are observed). |

 Spray with fungicides such as  metalaxyl+mancozeb (e.g. Ridomil®), dimethomorph+mancozeb (e.g. Acrobat®), propineb (e.g. Antracol®) or maneb(e.g. Maneb®).
